CRISIS CARE KIT / SCHOOL PAL PAK COLLECTION INFORMATION
The 2025 collection will be March 22nd, 2025 at Nashville Parkview (SWID Ladies’ day). Transport date will be in early May. Donations are accepted at Odon right up until the time of departure. However, CCK’s will NOT be accepted at Odon until 1 March 2025. This is due to shelf-life issues with toothpaste and shampoo. Please wait until 1 March to purchase these 2 items to maximize their shelf-life after transport to the warehouse. Please avoid purchasing these items from deep discount outlets that may be liquidating out-of-date stock. There is a checkfresh.com website verifying Shampoo shelf-life based upon batch number code printed on each bottle. Here are some links to common shampoo brands: VO5 PERT SUAVE
An additional item or 2 will be added to the CCK packing in list in 2025. These will be feminine hygiene items. The finalized listing is unknown at present (7/2024) — however, it will be posted here when it becomes available. For now, plan on packing your CCK contents into 2 1/2 Gallon Hefty(tm) slide-lock bags to allow extra space. CCKs shipped next May will have to comply with this updated list. Please plan on adding an item or 2 to each of your CCK kits before delivery.
Please take time to look over the updated instruction page carefully. There are clarifications on combs, hand towels, toothbrushes, band-aids, fingernail clippers and beanie babies. I will be posting some links to Walmart.com and Amazon.com for convenient shopping options.
Summer time is a great time to collect items for School Pal Paks (July-August). They can be dropped off at Odon anytime in the walkway between church and fellowship hall (24x7) or arrange a meet-up via email davel8257@gmail.com or phone call 812-486-5504. They will be stored until transport next spring. Please use sturdy 12x12x12 boxes (U-haul is a good source.)
A recent change in the Fawn Grove warehouse requires them to open and check the contents of every box. Therefore, no taping is required. Partial CCK Kits (bags) are not allowed. However, partial boxes (less than 6 complete kits) are OK — mark “Partial” on the top. Also, because our boxes are packed in combination with many other boxes, please make sure the bottom flaps on each box are not hanging loose. (Duct tape is a good solution for this problem.). Please cut a piece of cardboard or use the heavy brown paper to cover the opening on the lid. This keeps the box from snagging on the box on top of it when they are loaded / unloaded. Mark each box with the letter “S” on the upper left hand corner of the lid. This will help us identify it as a SWID box.
